Debating
Debating is a wonderful way to build confidence and develop reasoning skills. Each year students from the Junior School are involved in a debating competition against local independent schools. Teams receive training and encouragement from staff members who assist the students to develop the ability to formulate an argument and an understanding of the principles of Debating.Public Speaking
The annual Public Speaking competition is the culmination of several weeks of class and year group competition for children from Year 1 to Year 6. The children learn about preparing and delivering a speech, growing in self confidence with each effort. Maths Olympiad
Maths Olympiad is a competition which brings together Year 5 and 6 students from across Australia and New Zealand to solve challenging mathematical problems. Macarthur students compete in the teams and individual category and have achieved great success over recent years.Tournament of Minds
Students may join the Tournament of Minds team to compete in regional and statewide competitions. The teams work in a particular discipline to solve a set problem and then present their solution in a public forum. They are also presented with an impromptu problem to resolve. These teams train and prepare during lunch and after school.Year 6 iMovie Group
Year 6 are able to join this group and learn skills in preparing a DVD. They produce a piece of memorabilia, representing a overview of their years at Macarthur for distribution at the Year 6 Progression Dinner.
