From the Chaplain

What is a Christian School?

Here at Macarthur Anglican School we believe that a Christian School is one where the message of the Christian Gospel is proclaimed clearly and regularly and where the values and attitudes that underpin Christianity are encouraged.

While many families at Macarthur are regularly involved with their own church, many others do not have this type of link. My role in the school brings me into contact with students and their families, often during times of challenge or distress. I am available to visit families and provide the kind of support which has traditionally been the role of the local minister.

My work at Macarthur includes conducting weekly Chapel Services for the Junior School, Middle School and Senior School and I am involved in the planning for the weekly Chapels in the Infants School. Students are regularly challenged to consider the message and claims of the Bible and the impact these should have on their lives.

I also oversee the work of Oasis and JAM and the operation of student Bible Studies. Each morning the staff of Macarthur come together for a Devotion, to pray and share a message from the Bible, before they begin their work with students.

Many former students and their families also call upon the Chaplain. Each year I perform several marriages and baptisms for those who are now beyond Macarthur, but who continue to see the School as an important link in their lives. Some of these services are carried out through the Macarthur Family Chapel, but many of the are conducted in other churches and venues. As part of the requests for baptisms and weddings some background instruction regarding the Christian faith is provided.
