Silver Jubilee Celebrations
In 1984 Macarthur Anglican School opened its doors to students for the very first time. This momentous event was the result of years of planning by a team committed to bringing quality Christian education to the Macarthur region.
The School began its operation in a church hall in Campbelltown and was soon transferred to new purpose built classrooms which had been erected in Narellan. It was on this site that Macarthur Anglican School began its growth. Over the years since1984 the school has grown and changed, incorporating a two stream Junior School into its offering in1993 and relocating to the beautiful 120 acre site it now occupies in Cobbitty in 1997.
Over its twenty-five year history the School has sought to offer its students a well-rounded, challenging learning environment. Its academic achievements, music and performance curriculum, outdoor education programmes and the sporting opportunities offered to students are outstanding and allows students to develop in their area of skill and talent.
The guiding hand behind many of the developments during this time has been the current Headmaster, Mr Riley Warren AM, who retired at the end of 2008.
Mr Warren said, "It has been a great joy to have the opportunity to work with so many young people and their families and to build a school community where excellence is valued and acknowledged and where generosity of spirit and service to others is nurtured. I am so proud of our current students and of our graduates, who are now studying and pursuing careers in fields like Engineering, the Law, Education, Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Christian Ministry, Accounting, Music and many other areas."
During 2009 there will be many events to celebrate the Silver Jubilee, including several concerts, a ball and special events for former students and former families. Already a team of parents, former parents and staff has begun work on a Silver Jubilee Quilt to be presented on Foundation Day, 20 June, 2009.
