Learning in Year 5 and Year 6

The students of Year 5 and 6 work in  their classroom with one teacher on most days.  They have specialist Music, Indonesian  and Visual Arts lessons and  enjoy the opportunity to work with specialist teachers from other areas of the school from time to time. There continues to be a strong focus on literacy and numeracy in these classes and an hour each day is dedicated to each of these areas of study.

In Year 5 and 6 the curriculum has a staged-based focus, allowing all five classes at this level to be considering the same units of work.  This allows some use of ability grouping across the grades and between grades where this is appropriate. A specialist science teacher works regularly with classes. The students use specialist facilities  like science laboratories, computer laboratories, Visual Arts and Technology workshops regularly.
