Missionary Links

Macarthur has a strong link with two missionary organisations.

The Bush Church Aid Society

The Bush Church Aid Society of Australia is an association of Christians within the Anglican Church whose vision is and goal is Australia For Christ.

The Bush Church Aid Society has a priority in mission to the isolated, remote urban and rural people of Australia. BCA places missioners in remote communities and regions to establish and lead churches, promoting and supporting the Christian faith.

Macarthur supports Mike and Chantelle Keith in their work in Lightning Ridge, a township in north western NSW. Lightning Ridge is an opal mining and tourist town to which many people are drawn as they seek to make their fortune. The Keith's work with the congregations of Lightning Ridge, Goodooga and Cumborah and their communities.

Many of those living in these isolated areas have moved away from family and friends and loneliness is common. The population is transient and drawn from sixty three different nationalities. There are many children and families in the community.

In addition to their work in the local churches, Mike and Chantelle minister to townsfolk through the local hospital and school, as well as visiting people in their homes.

Church Missionary Society

The Church Mission Society is set up and continues to function in order to obey the Great Commission - doing all in its power to bring that gospel to those who 'do not know Christ and have not heard his name'.

Macarthur supports the work of Jono and Amy Vink in Tanzania. Jono is helping to train church leaders, grounding them in biblical theology and practical exegetical skills to help them teach the Bible and pastor God's people. Amy home schools their children and leads Sunday School at the local church.

During 2007 the Vink family visited Macarthur and spoke to the students of their life and work.
