Technology Resources
From Transition, the students learn about the use of computers as a tool in the learning process. Whether they are learning about numbers in Kindergarten or developing a DVD as a major work in Visual Arts or Design and Technology in Year 11 and 12, the hardware and software resources necessary for the task are available to them at the School.
Working on Apple computers, the students have the opportunity to develop and enhance their visual literacy. They develop and improve their basic computing skills and learn to complete projects such as multimedia presentations, visual storyboards, build web sites, develop digital portfolios, make movies and use 3-D modelling. Students also learn about the safe and responsible use of the internet.
The use of digital projectors and interactive whiteboards in classrooms allows staff to model the use of technology as a tool for learning.
In 2009 Macarthur received a number of computers as part of the Commonwealth Government's Digital Education Revolution Programme. These will add to the computer facilities already available to students at Macarthur. The planned refurbishment of the Technology and Creative Design Centre will also provide enhanced opportunities for students to expand their technology skills and interests.
