Year 7 and Year 8

In Year 7 students are presented with a changed learning environment in which they will work with with many teachers and study many different subjects. During Year 7 and 8 all subjects are compulsory. Mathematics classes are graded from Year 7 and classes in English and Science are graded from Year 8. Aside from the Honours classes, Geography and History classes are in mixed ability grouping.

In Music, students are grouped according to their musical experience and talent. Similarly, students are grouped for Indonesian based upon their experience in studying languages. Allocation to classes in Technology, Visual Arts, Biblical Studies, and PDHPE is based upon Music classes.


Honours

Students may be invited to enter the Honours class for Year 7 and 8. In selecting students for the Honours class a number of criteria are considered. These include their achievement in the Entrance Test completed in September of their Year 6 year, scholarship examination results (where applicable), NAPLAN results, results in state and nationwide competitions, school reports and other relevant information.

In the Honours class, the base curriculum is delivered in a fast-paced, compacted manner which allows the students to explore a range of issues related to the area of study. Honours students operate as one class in English, Mathematics, Science, History and Geography.
