The Socrates Programme

Socrates is a programme for gifted and talented students in Year 9 and Year 10 which is run in conjunction with the Schools Engagement Unit at the University of Western Sydney.

It involves students choosing an area of personal interest and completing a research or creative project which they will present early in Winter Term. Project topics range from studies of teenage depression, the movie rating system, the Rubik's Cube, the law and justice related to raising awareness of charities and investigating the links between events in history and myths and legends.

We welcome students from the University of Western Sydney who volunteer to mentor our students by guiding and assisting the Socrates group through the research and development of their projects. The mentors are studying a wide range of courses including: Teaching, Occupational Therapy, Business Studies, Commerce, Medical Science, Bachelor of Policing and Medicine. Socrates projects conclude with a showcase in the Library as students share ideas, knowledge and expertise.
